That’s why UWA created Experienced-based entry, which allows you to apply for a select number of our undergraduate bachelor’s degrees using a combination of academic achievements and life experiences. Graduate-entry diplomas are available to students who have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and who wish to undertake further studies towards an additional undergraduate major. Food and dining initiatives are a central component of our sustainability efforts on campus. From vegetarian and vegan dining options to including more local foods on the menu, sustainability has been integrated into our food culture — ensuring freshness, boosting the local economy and creating connections with the community. There are numerous green spaces on campus that serve as locations for relaxation and reflection.

Facilities include public toilets, cold showers, non-potable running water, fish cleaning station, public barbeques, and bins. Fires are allowed under strict guidance from the on-site caretaker, but you must bring in your own firewood prior to reaching the site. Camping is not permitted on the beach which has extremely soft sand and is exposed to the surf and tides which pose a significant risk. Camping is also not permitted from Mid-February till the end of April each year when the site is utilised by professional fishermen, however can be used as a day use area during this time. Sites cannot be pre-booked so please plan your trip accordingly so that you have time to find alternative accommodation if they are full. In our continuing effort to reduce water use, UAlbany has installed low flow fixtures for showers and bathroom facilities across campus and our grounds are irrigated with water from Parker Pond. Some ideas include turning off running water when its not in use, taking shorter showers and baths, and only running the washing machine and dishwasher when they are full. UAlbany buses provides safe, reliable and efficient services to the campus community. Current students and employees have free access to the regular CDPHP Cycle!

The ocean can be accessed via a short walk or along a 4WD track located 1km prior to reaching the camping area off Torbay Inlet Rd. To protect our pristine coastal landscape and local wildlife, please make sure you carry out what you carry in to reduce the impacts of litter and rubbish on our environment. Please enjoy Albany’s nature based camping and take your rubbish with you when you leave.

New York State Executive Order 22 requires state agencies to purchase more sustainably. Guidance on sustainable contracts and product specifications is available on the New York State Office of General Services website. The campus also organizes the New York Campus Crunch, a state-wide celebration of local food on college campuses. The Air Handling Unit schedule is modified each semester and over summer and winter break to accommodate building occupancy schedules. ETEC is a hub for innovation, scholarship, applied research and commercial development designed to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations to confront complex problems.

Injured Wildlife

The main component of your PhD in Biology program studies will be research-based. UWA Smart Start is a highly successful course that enables members of the Great Southern community to prepare for degree-level studies at the UWA Albany Campus.

Pre- and post-consumer food waste is composted in the University dining halls and catered events. Departments and campus groups can participate in the campus office composting program. Simply email email protected to request a composting pail and get on the schedule of weekly pick ups during the academic year. Comprehensive bachelor’ degree

(Formerly A BIO 121.)
